Republic P-35

Often described as the "grandfather" to the immortal P-47, the P-35 was the brainchild of enigmatic designer Alexander de Seversky.  The aircraft was built in a number of different configurations, including the EP-106 for Sweden, and it was embargoed Swedish aircraft serving with the 17th PS in the Phillipines which fought so valiantly against the Japanese invasion in mid-December, 1941.  The aircraft was also a highly successful racer, with Jacqueline Cochran and Frank Fuller scoring victories in the Bendix Trophy cross-country race in their Seversky SV-2Vs.
