North American P-51B Mustang

One of the crown jewels in the collection of Kermit Weeks is his stunning P-51B restoration.  This aircraft was originally owned by Paul Mantz and raced (as NX1202) in several Bendix cross-country races.  Left to rot for many years, Weeks eventually obtained the derelict thoroughbred and had it converted back to completely stock military configuration, going so far as to reject a full wiring harness because the North American proofing stamps were facing the wrong way!  His diligence paid off with a Grand Champion Warbird award at Oshkosh a couple years ago.  Pictures do not do the aircraft complete justice... it's cleanliness is breathtaking.
