Boeing B-52D-40-BW Stratofortress s/n 56-0687 |
This airframe, the last "tall tail" B-52D in the active USAF inventory, was flown to Orlando International Airport in 1984 to be permanently placed on display at the aptly named "B-52 Park". Orlando carries the international airport code "MCO", the initials of the original name of the field... McCoy Air Force Base. B-52s were stationed at McCoy from 1963 to 1974, when the base was turned over to civilian control. The aircraft is fairly well preserved, considering it sits outside in the hot and humid Florida weather; service details of the aircraft would be welcome. |
