I was home on leave and in uniform so I took a chance and hopped over the fence and walked out to the edge of the runway at OLF Concord in March 1944. The big Graflex was conspicuous but also may have looked official. Anyway since it was only an auxiliary landing practice field for NAS Alameda there were no facilities there. I got several good shots including an F6F taking off. This photo was taken on March 23, 1944.
