This
release features some of the most interesting Emil schemes yet seen in
decal form, including a well-known example of a III./JG53 aircraft with an
overpainted Hakenkreuz.
- E-1, Gelbe 2, 6./JG52, mid-1940
- E-4, Weiße 5, Uffz.
Hans-Georg Schulte, 7./JG53, 16 September 1940 (note temporary white
distemper on cowl covering the "Rotring" and the overpainted
Hakenkreuz on the fin)
- E-1, Weiße 11,
III./JG53, September 1940
- E-3, Gelbe 15, Uffz.
Karl Wolff, 3./JG52, October 1940 (another machine featuring the temporary
white theatre markings on the nose and tail)
- E-3, Gelbe 5,
II./JG52, August 1940 (The sheet claims this is the aircraft of Oblt. Paul
Gutbrod; however, one source described the inscription as being put
on the aircraft to commemorate the loss of Oblt.Gutbrod in the Dutch
campaign. I will find this source and confirm...)
This is the first of the
five releases so far to not offer any options in 1/72 scale, but this
should in no way be seen as a deterrent- once again, the markings are in
perfect register on my sample, the sheet is very well researched, and all
schemes given match original photos in the Jagdwaffe series of books as
well as the Jagdfliegerverbände Teil 4/II book from Struve-Druck.
My thanks to Cutting
Edge for the review sample. |
