Verlinden

1/48 Emil upgrade set

One of the original leaders in the aftermarket accessories field, Verlinden released this set for the original (flawed) release of the Hasegawa Bf109E.  The set should be compatible with any other Emil kit with the very obvious exception of the photoetched canopy frame... the windscreen of the original Hasegawa Emil was too shallow and the quarterlights were consequently too short.  That aside, the set is very nicely done, as one might expect, and can still be found in stores and at swap meets.  One strange feature (?) of the set is the complete lack of detail on the lower part of the engine block (where the fuel injection pump and air induction trunking is located)... Verlinden evidently did not design the set to be used with the lower cowling removed.

The major components of the kit are shown below; the resin parts are of a very high quality, with excellent detail and no casting flaws to be found.  As mentioned previously, the canopy framing would be the only weak point in using this set on other Emils from Tamiya or Hasegawa.
