Bf 109G-2 W.Nr. 14743

It's a never-ending wonder to see the mechanical and historical treasures found on the seabed.  Case in point is this amazingly rare pressurized example of the 109, brought up off the coast of Norway several years ago.  Coded "black 6" of 2./JG5 with the Stkz. DG+UF, the Gustav is under restoration in Sola, Norway for the Flyvehistorisk museum located there.  Note the fin carries the W.Nr. 463236- this item did not come from this aircraft, but is interesting nonetheless for the original paint still carried on it.

Many thanks to Mikael Olrog of the Preserved Axis Aircraft site for sharing these photos!
