Bf 109G-10  W.Nr. 610824

Formerly "black 2" of II./JG52, captured at Neubiberg at the end of the war.  For some reason, the Air Force Museum curatorial staff decided to have the aircraft refinished as a JG300 bird, despite the actual aircraft's identity being known.  Unfortunately, the markings are inaccurate, as the JG300 badge shown here has mainly been found on Fw190s.  One other point to note... the yellow lower cowl ceased to be used as a recognition marking from Sept. 1944 onwards, being replaced by the spiralschnauze.   While there are 109s known to carry both for a while after this change was implemented (i.e. 9./JG54 aircraft), "blue/black 4" does not appear to be one of them.
