Early He111 Variants in Luftwaffe Service |
Ok people, stick with me... this is gonna get ugly. :) I've broken this down into several different pages to cover the various and sundry subtypes, as photos seem to be cropping up left and right now.
This is where it all began... He111 V1, W.Nr. 715 D-ABAP. This photo scanned from the June 2002 Aeroplane is the only known shot of the V1 wearing its civil registration codes. | ![]() |
Another photo of the V1 in the more familiar overall grey scheme, with an unidentified group of people blocking our view of the mid-fuselage. Shame the photographer couldn't shoo them out of the way! :) |
D-AOKE... what is it? It is speculated within the Aeroplane article that this may possibly be a D model, although production documents only show one D model based on the early B version was completed, W.Nr. 1436. Later production D models were based on the glass-nosed P variant. |
The histories of the subsequent prototypes are covered on the Lufthansa page, as V2, V3, and V4 were all earmarked for Lufthansa service.
